The purpose of this research is to develop a comparative study of the characteristics of the managers of small and medium-sized enterprises (smes) of the macro-sector manufactures of world class manufacturing in the cities of medellín, bogotá and cali. for this research, we start from the construct that there is a direct relationship between the characteristics of managers and the results of internationalization of smes in the cities with the greatest potential in this area in colombia. for its development, a qualitative and quantitative methodology is proposed, through a non-experimental transversal design. to do this, a confirmatory factor analysis will be developed, the structural equation modeling (sem) and the poisson regression model.based on these tools, the characteristics of managers will be modeled as determinants of the internationalization of smes in medellín, bogotá and cali.

Expected results

Production of scientific research and publication type isi or scopus. it is an investigation that goes out of the local context, since it delves into the regional problems by trying to describe the cultural characteristics that occur within other cities of the country. as additional advantages of this project, there is the possibility of building a frontier topic of research in latin american literature. the results of this research are useful for both academia and the public sector. on the one hand, the academy is nourished by new research findings, useful for publication in isi or scopus articles, and on the other hand, it serves for the public sector, in the sense that it is possible to build an approach to management composition of the main cities of the country.useful information for the construction of public policies or projects aimed at improving internationalization.
