Despite the fact that the majority of research on construction waste management and demolition have reported that there are many benefits associated with minimizing these (environmental, social responsibility, public image, among others), they have not been clear in revealing which have been the management actions that have been implemented in the projects, what has been its effectiveness in terms of reducing the amount of waste, how to integrate waste minimization actions through a system and the cost / benefit for having them reduced.currently, the construction company conconcreto sa and the university of medellín are completing the execution of a research project that is titled design and implementation of a waste management system in construction projects, where the main objective is to design and implement a system of waste management for construction projects, which contributes to avoid, reduce, reuse and recycle waste.so far, the evaluation phase of integral performance in economic results has not been reached from the existing project, only information of some components is available.therefore, it is necessary to measure the performance of the sgr, through a case study in a housing tower, to identify and quantify the costs and benefits of the sgr and determine the most representative actions that help to avoid, reduce, reuse and / or recycle the rcd. even with the research carried out and the findings on the subject, the minimization of the rcd during the construction process of a project is complex due to the diversity of variables existing in the production model of the construction sector and the decisions that must be made. take in each stage where you can directly and indirectly generate the waste.
Measure the performance of a waste management system (sgr) in construction projects to quantify its economic benefit and determine the effectiveness of the actions that comprise it. specific: 1. identify the management actions of rcd, which make up the sgr, more effective in terms of reducing the amount of waste and the economic benefit for the project. 2. measure the effectiveness of the sgr in terms of the amount of waste that can be reduced with respect to the baseline (before implementing the sgr) and estimate the cost / benefit of the sgr.
To develop the specific objectives, the following activities will be carried out: documentary observation of journal articles, doctoral theses, conference proceedings, research reports, regulations and legislation, prior determination of key words. weekly visits to the construction site where the sgr will be implemented. monitoring of the implementation of each of the actions that are part of the sgr in a work of the construction company through an indicator of performance of the implementation. evidence records of the implementation of the actions that are part of the sgr. record of the information originated in the work on the reduction of the amount of waste due to the implementation of each of the actions that are part of the sgr. registration of the information generated in the work on the costs and benefits of the implementation of each of the actions that are part of the sgr. comparison of the results of the implementation of the sgr vs the baseline (before implementing the sgr). analysis and evaluation of costs and benefits of the implementation of the sgr. expected results: 1. quantification of the effectiveness of the actions that make up the sgr in terms of the amount of waste they reduce. 2. economic benefit of the sgr.
