NARRATIVES OF SOCIAL PROTEST FROM THE OFFICIALS, THE MEDIA AND CIVIL SOCIETY: THE CASE OF CHILE AND COLOMBIA 2019-2020

In the framework of the fourth industrial revolution, the project: "NARRATIVES OF SOCIAL PROTEST FROM OFFICIALS, THE MEDIA AND CIVIL SOCIETY: CASE OF CHILE AND COLOMBIA 2019-2020" proposes to contrast, in a multidisciplinary perspective, the narratives that three actors built collectives - civil society (support or reject), the government and its spokespersons; the media (traditional or digital) - around the citizen protests and marches that took place in Chile and Colombia between October 2019 and February 2020 and that circulated in the digital public sphere, mainly on the social network Twitter. The research is mixed. Qualitatively, it works with a critical approach, based on theoretical and methodological perspectives such as critical discourse analysis and the hermeneutic method, and quantitatively, it works with content analysis. In this context, a corpus will be approached in light of the criteria previously indicated, which will be treated through the NVivo Software. The foregoing is carried out in two moments: In an initial phase, the discursive pieces (memes, photographs, multimodal texts) that were a trend between October 19, 2019 and February 21, 2020 on the social network Twitter are collected by each collective actor (government accounts, media accounts, and user hashtags related to the protests), to subsequently delimit the samples, analyze the data and find the patterns that allow the structuring of the different narratives-stories by each actor. In this sense, the fundamental question of the project is: What are the narratives-stories produced by the various actors (government, civil society, media) in the context of confrontations, marches and protests as a response to the social and economic problems of Chile and Colombia?

General Objective Within the framework of the fourth industrial revolution, contrast, in a multidisciplinary perspective, the narratives that the three collective actors built - civil society (support or reject), the government and its spokesmen; the media (traditional or digital) - around the citizen protests and marches that took place in Chile and Colombia between October and December 2019 and that circulated in the digital public sphere. Specific Objectives1. Identify genres, strategies, representations, emotions and contents that make up the narratives of the three actors, involved and confronted in digital environments, in the contexts of protest in Chile and Colombia.2. Determine the modes of transmedia production and its articulation with the narrative structures produced by the actors in the context of the protests in Chile and Colombia.3. Recognize the aesthetic manifestations that emerge from citizen protests, in order to investigate the resistance potentialities of "counter-hegemonic art", its link with political participation, the reappropriation and resignification of public spaces and contemporary representations of the political .
