Abstract

The objective of this article is to analyze the possibilities of a Specialized Environmental Justice for Colombia based on a comparative study between Brazil, Chile and Mexico. The approval of the Treaty of Escazu that forces to guarantee that said justice system has “competent state organs with access to specialized knowledge in environmental matters” is taken advantage of. This study implemented the comparative methodology that proposes first, to compare the comparable, and second, to adopt a propositional analysis criterion based on the differences. The justice model that best responds to the Treaty standard and best suits the needs of the country are discussed. Based on this, reasons are provided to adopt autonomous bodies or courts with environmental chambers.
