Abstract
The present invention is directed at a remotely operated system for the performance of physics experiments, such as the Atwood machine experiment, and its method of operation, comprising a turret housing a plurality of masses to perform the experiment, a mass selection and coupling mechanism, a mass displacement and pulley release mechanism, an ultra-low friction pulley, a counterweight, one or more chambers and a control mechanism. The turret, mass selection and coupling, pulley displacement and release, and control mechanisms can be housed within a protective cover. This system does not require presential interventions, can employ a large number of masses to achieve greater variations in the configurations of the experiment and obtain closer samples that provide greater accuracy in the results, has fewer misalignment inconveniences and is easy to maintain.
